Remind messaging app is an easy way to send messages to students and parents. It looks like a useful app for quick and easy communication. Communication with families is key and the use of technology is the primary vehicle for communication. Email is helpful, but many times, emails are incorrect or not checked frequently enough to have consistent communication with families. Remind allows for group conversations. Facilitating these group conversations and sending pictures/files would be helpful, especially if they needed to be sent to large groups of people.  One of the quotes from a user said “ Most of my students have come up to me and told me that my Remind messages were the only reason they completed the assignment because they would have forgotten about it over a long weekend.” Although it is good that students completed the assignments, I worry that students would become too dependent on receiving reminder messages about due dates. The last student response system I will write about is Plickers.  Plickers are commonly used among math teachers at my school. Students hold up cards for different multiple choice questions and teachers use their phone to scan the room. Plickers collects their answers and provides data to the teacher. I think Plickers give students a more tangible way to answer the questions without needing them to be on a device. Plickers gives teachers real-time data. Because students do not need devices, they do not need to take time to log in. Each Plicker card is assigned to a student (assigned by the teacher) and can be used across multiple classes.
